Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to sign to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first single was released with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain recognition. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she dropped more music via the Internet including Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole had her submit her tracks to the Dreamville Team in the following year, as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. On December 28, 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had signed with Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. She released Pho, her debut EP on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she joined by EarthGang. in 2018, the singer-songwriter guested on two tracks featuring EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream of the album was released on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a a music video. Then on the 9th of November, she released another two singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 2013, she dropped No One and Pedigree. She appeared with Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16and later released the song in a solo version on the album she released her debut. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within the first period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. In December of 2018, she was an opening act for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
